U.S. DHS seizes dinosaur in New York City
 On June 22, 2012, attorneys Robert Painter and Taunya Painter were present in New York City for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's seizure of a Tyrannosaurus bataar skeleton. The rare dinosaur is the subject of litigation that Painter Law Firm filed on behalf of His Excellency Elbegdorj Tsakhia, President of Mongolia, to determine the skeleton's origin and ownership.
On June 18, 2012, the U.S. government filed a federal forfeiture action, which is supportive of Mongolia's claim to the dinosaur, and on the following day, a federal judge signed a warrant to seize the bataar. Robert Painter said, "As I watched the Homeland Security agents seize the Tyrannosaurus in New York, there was a feeling of justice in the air. This is a great example of the rule of law at work and how two democracies can cooperate to pursue justice." The seizure is an important step that we believe will lead to the return of the dinosaur to the people of Mongolia in the near future.
