Homeowners sue developer for declaratory judgment in Raveneaux case

Painter Law Firm PLLC represents certain Champion Forest property owners in a lawsuit to prevent their water board, Cypress Forest Public Utility District, from changing the terms of a contract it signed with a developer to preserve green space at Raveneaux Country Club. These home owners are concerned that the changes would increase taxes and decrease their property values, and are against what the voters approved. The lawsuit does nothing to prevent the water board and developer from proceeding with closing on the original contract.
The Harris County District Court Ancillary Judge granted a temporary restraining order last week, and a hearing for a temporary injunction has been rescheduled for Monday, May 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., in the 295th District Court. When the Raveneaux developer/owner, JP/Raveneaux Partners LP and Kera Development, L.P., learned of the home owners' suit against their water board, the developer threatened to sue these property owners. Believing they have done nothing wrong by pursuing their right to challenge their water board in court, the home owners filed an action for declaratory judgment against developer, which brings the developer into the lawsuit.
